The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Old is a globally celebrated Speyside single malt, renowned for its smoothness and distinctive flavor achieved through its signature “DoubleWood” maturation process. It is a cornerstone expression from the prestigious Balvenie distillery, which maintains traditional craftsmanship, including growing its own barley and having its own coppersmiths and coopers.

The whisky is matured sequentially in two different types of oak cask. It is first aged in traditional American oak ex-bourbon barrels (imparting notes of honey and vanilla) and is then transferred to first-fill European oak ex-Oloroso sherry butts for a finishing period (adding rich spice and dried fruit). This unique “marrying” of flavors results in a beautifully harmonious, complex, and elegant single malt with notes of sweet nuttiness, cinnamon, honey, and sherry sweetness.
